The Mindful Background: Playful Attunements

I play mobile games every day. I don’t know for how long . . . usually five to ten minutes. A few times in the morning, a few times after work. Some people check their social media constantly but don’t see it as wasting time. I play games that involve other people such as Scrabble, and sometimes other solitary games. I’m always aware of the environments I’m in when I play. There are certain places I “pretend” to play while being very mindful of who is around me. I think as a woman this is common in public spaces. It gives me another way to experience a place. I find that while my vision might be completely focused on the game, my hearing of what’s around me becomes more acute. (Denise from Sydney)
